NES 2020/21 is premised on four objectives:
The NES 2020/21 is under a theme “Unlock Entrepreneurial Potential to cope with the aftermaths of Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic”. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the economic shutdowns are dealing a severe blow to the global economy and especially poorer countries. Uganda can take steps now to speed recovery after the worst of coronavirus crisis that has seen the country in a lockdown with blunt long-term adverse effects. Such steps include a hostage of the summit to an inspiring platform for successful entrepreneurs and investors from Uganda and around the world to merge and create new opportunities for investment, partnership and collaboration; connect entrepreneurs and investors with international counterparts to form lasting relationships; and highlight entrepreneurship as means to address some of the most intractable national challenges.
NES 2020/21 is aimed to make existing and future entrepreneurs more resilient by providing innovative and risk management frameworks to build and retain more human and physical capital during the recovery. NES typically includes a wide range of international expertise, workshops, panels, ignite talks, business idea competitions, mentoring and networking sessions aimed to give entrepreneurs tailored opportunities to gain skill and relationships that will help incubate plus expand existing business ideas in the aftermaths of Covis-19 pandemic. China, German, Japan have been exceptional on road to recovery for example, China’s central bank has taken relatively modest actions, reducing reserve requirements for banks, allowing additional loans of $80 billion to struggling businesses (The Guardian, 2020).
Whilst in Uganda the fundamentals for high-quality development will not change, at the summit, there will be demonstration areas and experiential learning exhibitions to create opportunities for participants to connect with industry experts. If Uganda does not take a grip of the aftermaths of the coronavirus pandemic on entrepreneurs, ccurrent estimates show that 60 million people could be pushed into extreme poverty in 2020. These estimates are likely to rise further, with the reopening of advanced economies the primary determinant,” said World Bank Group President David Malpass (World Bank press release, 2020).

‘Our T-shirt business has grown 12 times the size in under six months of working with Roger, and we’re projecting it’ll double again before the end of the year and hit $1 million. It’s impressive for something that was in a testing stage when we first met Roger. The key thing for us was recognising that you don’t need to keep putting the foot on the gas all the time; simply by nurturing your team and defining your rhythm you can accelerate growth.’

‘It brought us a phenomenal transformation! We knew that the accounting space was really being disrupted and we knew we needed to drive the business in a different direction. But we had no idea how! Coming to the event several years in a row helped us to come up with a completely new business model that’s at the forefront of what’s happening in tech and crypto worlds. We’ve immersed ourselves in the entrepreneur movement. We can now say we’re running a truly global and future-facing business.’
